ASEAN LEARNING NETWORK (ALN) was organizing 10th Anniversary Celebration, Executive Committee Meeting and Developmental Workshop in Kuala Lumpur, 5 – 7 March 2019. The events were attended by representatives from 12 universities from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam. The ASEAN Learning Network (ALN) was launched in February 2009, at the International Conference on Intercultural Management to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in Bandung. The Network’s founding members include Bandung Institute of Technology, Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City, San Beda College, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, and Asia Research Centre. Members of this Network collaborate to further the Context-Based approach to Management Teaching, Research and Practice-Training in Asia.

UNIB ALN institutional membership was initiated in 2017 when ALN council meeting was conducted at UNIB, organized and supported by Fac of Social and Political Science and also back up by University level. After formal registration in mid-2018, UNIB has been formally accepted as institutional member. As of 1 January 2018, there are currently ten active member institutions in ALN, i.e. Princess of Naradhiwas University, Thailand, Prince of Songkla University, Thailand, Banking University Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, De La Salle University, Philippines, San Beda University, Philippines, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Universiti Malaysia Perlis, Parahyangan Catholic University, Indonesia and University of Bengkulu, Indonesia

During the 10th Anniversary, ALN gave rewards to its institutional members. Rector University of Bengkulu, Dr Ridwan Nurazi, received the reward on behalf of UNIB. UNIB was represented by Rector, Dr Ridwan Nurazi, Head of Partnership and International Affairs, Dr Yansen and Dr Titiek Kartika from Faculty of Social and Political Sciences.

In the Executive Committee meeting, many issues were discussed, such as programs and activities by the network. It was agreed to open the network to other interested institutions. Further development and activities of the network was detailed in the workshop. For UNIB, this network is important for developing mobility programs for staff and students from UNIB to other universities in ASEAN and also mobility of international staff and students to UNIB. Some projects collaborations between members were also prepared.

In the middle of the event, Rector UNIB also conducted bilateral meeting with Vice Chancellor of Univ Malaysia Kelantan.
